This is an excerpt from another post I made.
Combat, especially prolonged or open field combat, is extremely daunting for anyone who aren't champion level players with thousands of hours under their belt. However, as with most daunting or difficult things, being able to break it down into manageable and understandable steps will greatly speed the learning and transition, and provide comfort in knowing how a battle is turning out before it happens. It allows you to predict a good deal of things with great detail.
To sum up the above, I'll borrow a joke from my friend Jovan:
Draw an Owl. How do you draw an Owl? First draw two circles. Now draw the Owl.
Like the joke, getting kills and "winning" in prolonged or open firefights is much like a complex work of art.
